I have loved the Californians series by Lori Wick since I was a young girl. I can't even count how many times I have read this series. Of the for book series, this book is not my favorite, but it is still a great book. The other three books tell the story of a sibling group (Katie, Sean and Marcail). This book is more of a companion book. It focuses on other characters that you met in book one and tells their story. It is well written, which is no shock since Lori Wick is an excellent writer. There are times that she can get a bit cheesy with her characters, but I still enjoy her writing style.Lori Wick writes Christian Romance Fiction and does a good job with it. Her characters have a strong focus on their faith and she will often include bible verses and parts of sermons when the characters are in church or something. As a christian, I enjoy this aspect of her writing. If you are not a christian, keep in mind that these books have a strong focus on faith and the characters personal relationship with God.
This story is about Bobbie and she is a likable character. She is a pretty simple character in a lot of ways and I find it funny that just because she is short and has glasses she thinks she isn't beautiful, which of course is ridiculous. I find that Lori Wick is a fan of the whole main character who is "beautiful and doesn't know it". I find myself sometimes rolling my eyes at this but it's just part of what comes with her writing.
But the bottom line is, this is a sweet, wholesome, christian romance. It is very easy and enjoyable reading and I like the simple world that I am able to escape to when I go read this series. I also like that I can give this book to my 11 year old daughter and know that she won't read anything in it that I wouldn't want her to. This is nice and something that is not always easy to find nowadays.
I would recommend this book, but if you want to read my all time favorite two books by her I would suggest you go read "The Knight and the Dove" and "Sophie's Heart". Those two books are my all time favorite of hers and the main characters are a little more realistic in my opinion.

As Time Goes by California Series Book 2 Lori Wick 9781565070059 Books Reviews
I absolutely loved the second book in the Californian series. Lori wick has such a way of making simple romance seem like the greatest love in the world. I love all the characters in this books and can't wait to continue the series!
Read this book for the first time many years ago and the story never gets old. This is a book where you can relate to Bobbie. Great for YA and adults alike.
as advertised
I just reread on my tablet and enjoyed all four ebooks of Lori Wick's Californian series. Character Bobbie in book 2, a very competent young lady, is my all time favorite feminine heroine among many pioneer and Amish Christian books. I also qhave printed copies.
As stated in my reviews of the OTHER 3 sequels to Whatever Tomorrow Brings, this book is not (in my opinion) AS exciting as the first one, BUT it IS a continuation of the family and I HAD to read it. I now own the whole series and was very happy to find them all right here on .
The book arrived in excellent condition and on time.
I think this is my favorite book in this particular series. In my opinion, without being too obvious about it, it shows that real beauty comes from within.
I must admit that the first two thirds of this book seemed to be slow. There were a lot of characters who's story we had to follow. I didn't really care about following the story of Sylvia and what's-his-name. I also felt the author at times was just feeling up pages with other details...
With that said, the overall story idea was great. I LOVED the last third of this book. It was great! I enjoyed reading about the kiss and the aftermath of that. It was great. Being a pretty homely person myself, I enjoyed reading about this girl who didn't really have good looks, had to wear glasses (like me) and, and was short (like me); then this very handsome man who fell in love with her. I was thinking as I read this book that a good title would have been "Love comes softly," because that's how it came (but that titles already taken!!!)
And of course, my two favorite characters are Rigg and Kate. I don't think she'll be able to top their romance story in this series, but we'll see (actually, Christine and Luke from her first series were my personal all time favorites of hers)...I'm hoping Sean Donovan will be a better read...
But definitely, this is a good read. The story line is great.
