I wanted to like it. Really. It starts out with a young woman named Pollen awaking in the woods. She has no idea how she got there or how long she's been there. She tries to go home, but she is being hunted by strangers with guns. She has a tattoo that she doesn't remember getting.
She ends up with Marcus, who has the same tattoo, and is also being hunted.
Turns out a virus has killed 93% of the population. The tattoos mark those few who are immune.
Sounds good so far, my kind of book.
But events become kind of tangled, with a 'mysterious' (not my word) group called Trinity apparently behind all this, obviously for nefarious reasons.
Yada, yada, yada.
I got halfway through and lost interest. I usually finish reading books if I make it halfway, but I reached my breaking point.
Too inconsistent, but since I didn't finish, I can't say for absolute fact that it's no good. I just got bored.

Fall of Venus edition by Daelynn Quinn Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I bought this book after watching the trailer on YouTube. The trailer was brought to my attention while entering a giveaway for a copy of the book(which I had never heard of before,) but after seeing it I just had to buy it before the giveaway even ended. I couldn't put this book down! I read it all in one day! The story really sucked me in, very well written. A few typos, but it was no big deal in the scheme of things. I fell in love with the characters, was taken away from reality on a wild ride through a dystopian world, wonderfully built by the author. I can't wait for the next book in this series! I will definitely be buying it as soon as its available!
This book has a lot of twists an turns leaving you wanting more. Really glad that there is another book
Even in a series of books there should be a conclusion followed by a hint of what's to come in the next episode. An unfortunate oversight by Quinn leaving the reader with no desire to look into the next story.
Some major plot inconsistencies (e.g. Doorbell ringing when power is out), some unbelievable plotting (marauders roaming the countryside and you answer the door without looking???). I pushed myself to make it half way, then gave up.
Perhaps if I had read a lesser author than George RR Martin just before reading this book, then I may have appreciated Quinn more. Jumping from Martin to Quinn was too wide a gap in writing skills, and I seriously struggled to finish Fall of Venus.
The premise of the book is interesting, but the author's style seems as if she is aiming at a preteen audience.
Was a little mixed up at the start, but I believe the author had that planned for me. I imagine me being the initial characters in their situation working out the same way. Good story, I think the confusing state lasted a little too long but not so much to hurt the book. As the story becomes clearer, it seems the location is familiar, even with future trends, but was pleasantly surprised. I do love a clear and acceptable twist to keep possibilities and options open.
Well done, glad there's a second book- I'll be reading that also.
First of all I didn't realize when I started the book that it was YA. In the first book it wasn't an issue with this old lady!
The story itself hooked me. I love scifi and action so it was a good combination. I also am a big fan of strong young women in stories.
The book was really fast paced with tons of action and some nice scenes where the two MCs got reacquainted as they had a memory loss caused by complications with their escape.
I actually really enjoyed the story enough to buy the second book. My one huge complaint is the number of typos and proofreading errors. I noticed in her acknowledgements she thanked her editor for finding all of her errors, but I beg to differ. I would suggest a good couple of Beta readers and a new editor. These changes would make a clumsy read into a very enjoyable, engaging story.
